To Connect to Lehigh's network from Off-Campus In order to access many University computer systems from off campus, you'll need to use Lehigh's to connect to them over the internet through our VPN (Virtual Private Network) software.   Lehigh uses Cisco's AnyConnect SSL vpn software to provide this service.  The VPN software provides an encrypted tunnel to Lehigh's campus network.

Step-by-step guide

First Download the software and install it on your computer, phone or other device

  1. Desktop Software can be downloaded from our campus software repository.  You may also be able to install it directly from 

    vpn.lehigh.edu.

  2. Android - Search for Cisco Anyconnect in the play store
  3. iOS (iPhone) - Search for Cisco Anyconnect in the Apple Store

Configure it to connect to vpn.lehigh.edu

You will see . The VPN server acts as a gatekeeper, granting access only to Lehigh users, and requires the use of a specific piece of client software: Cisco's AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client, which creates a secure tunnel through the Internet into Lehigh's network.

Instructions:

  1. First, you'll need to download, install and configure the VPN client software onto your device (computer, tablet, phone).  Follow the installation instructions for your device:
    1. Windows, macOS, and Linux, iOS, Android.
  2. On starting a connection, the software will ask for your Lehigh username and password, a Two-factor Authentication Prompt, and present an option for "GeneralAccess" or "LibraryResources".

Note - If you have DUO configured for 2FA, you'll need to enter "push" in the second authentication box in order to generate a push request to your mobile phone.

  1. With the group set as desired, go ahead and log in with your Lehigh username and password, and supply your second factor as usual.

Once you make the connection, you should be able to connect to any Lehigh websites or systems that normally require you to be on-campus to access them.
