As part of Course Site maintenance and upgrade on January 5, 2020, several new features and improvements will be implemented. Below is a brief list of features and improvements to expect.

New major features

Refreshed look and feel

There will be a new default theme aimed at modernizing the interface, making better use of white space, and most importantly enhancing accessibility by leveraging the latest release of BootStrap.

Course overview / User dashboard

The course overview / user dashboard has been completely revamped aimed at being more intuitive and efficient. The dashboard is user customization. See the quick video overviews below:

 

Forums

New features include the ability to add new discussions on the same forum page, quickly reply inline, and star/pin/sort discussions. Instructors will now have the added ability to reply to students privately with a discussion thread and lock threads to prevent further posting. See the quick video overview below:

Quiz

New features include the ability for students to clear an answer choice if a choice is selected by mistake (pictured below). Instructors will now have the ability to tag questions which will make it easy to filter and select questions for use in future quiz activities (see quick video below).

Other improvements for instructors

  •  Rotate submitted PDF files
  •  New interface for easily selecting allowed file types for assignment submissions
  •  Duplicate course activities are now marked as copies
  •  Manually mark activities as complete
